This is because you may have friends from different kinds of background. They may come from different culture, religion, generation, or anything. But no matter how they come as long as they can give you a lesson of life, as long as they can make you understand the very important you in your life, as long as they can be a place to share, strengthen you up when you're down, as long as they make you comfortable and having value for your life, then they may become your friends.
